A Big Change

The short version:

Matt and I have some big news to share! We are selling our belongings, moving into an RV, and hitting the road! This blog is where we will be documenting our travels, bumps in the road, and stories about life. We hope you will follow along on our journey!

The slightly longer version:

Sometimes a change in life is necessary, sometimes change is optional, and often change just happens. Our story, and the inspiration for this blog, is a mix of all three. If you had asked me a year ago if I thought we would be moving in just a short time to a new “house” that is less than 400 sq ft…and on wheels…I would have thought you were crazy. Six months ago I would have told you, “It sounds like a nice idea, but really something that retired people do.” Thankfully, today it is a reality that will start for us in just a few weeks, and we couldn’t be more excited!

Why we decided to live in an RV full time: While there are many reasons we’ll cover in later blog posts, this quote – posted recently by a friend of mine – highlights one of them:

“You can always make more money, but you will never make more time.”

Matt and I have come to realize recently that time is one of the most important things we have, and it is truly irreplaceable. As a web developer (Matt) and a graphic designer (me), we have the opportunity to take our careers and lives in a different and somewhat untraditional direction. We are looking forward to having more time to spend with each other, our families, our three dogs, and the great outdoors, as we set our sights on the open road.

We are downsizing from a 3bed/2bath house to a 36′ fifth wheel! Here is a sneak peek of our new home/mobile office from the outside during the renovation! We still have some final finishes to complete before moving in, but here she is as of when we left her last!

We are so excited to share our experiences of full time RV living with those of you who follow along with us. Stay tuned for upcoming posts on our renovation adventures and our progress as we move in!

  1. I so enjoyed reading about your reno! I wish I would have had the foresight to do a few things before we went full time. I look forward to seeing your progress!

    • Thanks Kris! I have read a few blogs where people tackle some big remodels while full timing and I give them huge props. Thanks so much for the kind words.

      Cheers to full timing!

  2. Awesome renovation! I just love how you updated the kitchen, so modern looking.

  3. My husband and I will be traveling for the next 3 years due to his job and are currently living in an area that has a horrible housing market! After selling our house, moving to a new apartment in a new city, and countless hours of house/market research….I really think I want to do what you did. I have looked at your blog numerous times now and think it is do able. How long did it take you to finish the project?
